Today's technicians start between $15.00 and $17.50 per hour right out of school. Journeymen wages are from $20.00 to $31.00 per hour. Benefits usually include; health insurance, 401k, dental, vacation and more. Technicians are needed in every city and state across the United States, as well as abroad. With the need comes job security that no other industry can match. The average tenure of a diesel mechanic in the industry is currently over 15 years.
